If you are a nature lover don’t miss Jatiluwih, it is a breathtaking panorama of fertile rice terrace’s that stretch from the foothills of Batukaru volcano to the south coast. It is located at the western district of Tabanan at a height of height of 800 meters above sea level.

After passing the town of Tabanan the road takes you to the north through the villages of Wanasari, Jegu, Buruan and Wangaya Gede. On the route you will be amazed by the wonderful rural ambience; farmhouses, a little shrine to place offerings dedicated to Dewi Sri the Goddess of rice, flocks of ducks that are brought to bathe and feed all day in the flooded paddies, and farmers harvesting or ploughing. Observe many kinds of tropical vegetation; coffee, coconuts, cacaos, cloves, jack fruits, bananas, papayas, sirsaks, an extremely juicy fruit, rambutans, mangoes, durians the smelly fruit.

At Wanasari stop to enter the world of the butterflies and experience the beauty, variety and delicate wonder of nature's amazing creations. Covering 3,500 square meters, the enclosed gardens of the park create an ecosystem for study, breeding and protection of butterflies. This is the largest park of its kind in Southeast Asia. And it contains a myriad of species from all over Indonesia, including the rare Bird Wing Butterfly. This is a wonderful and unique educational outing and experience for all ages. These rice terraces are undoubtedly the most beautiful in Bali and it's easy to see why. It is said to be the granary of the whole Bali. They were created in this way because land became scarce and the Balinese were urged to divide land into several patches of land leading into a close organization among the farmers called the "subak".
